WALX PRESTON weekly news

Wow, that was a fast week.

End of week 4 of lockdown and they’ve announced another 3.

I don’t know about you, but the first 3 weeks have been helpful to get through a backlog of home and garden jobs, as well as business and home admin. Just the fact that there is no pressure to drive anywhere or do anything with or for anyone has focused my mind to do things I never seemed to be able to get around to.

However, in spite of having a long list of things still to do, and gratitude for us being able to meet up for our online socials, and sharing our individual weekly walks there is nothing more plain to say than

I AM MISSING YOU !

Being in nature helps. Walking helps. Socialising online helps.

But nothing compares to the actual freedom and fun of meeting up in person in our group and doing all the above together.

Keep strong. The team all look forward to walking with you again soon.

Nordic walking for mental health
It’s always a pleasure to hear regularly in your messages or posts or emails (or in person back in the day) how much you get out of walking with our group.
Just the fact that you share your pictures, walks, things you’ve seen on your routes is enough for me to know how much you are getting out of your walking.
Yet, when I hear from you directly some particular realisation you’ve had, or an improvement in a certain aspect of fitness/health/wellbeing you’ve experienced, or a boosting of your confidence…well, that is what it is all about for me.
Progress is perfect. I love to see that !

So, I was more than pleased when Ginny stepped forward and asked to write a blog post about her journey with mental health and how she has enjoyed joining our group.

Virtual Nordic Walk
It was great fun to be part of something even bigger today.
Club Deportivo Landederra, Spain set up a virtual nordic walking event. There we people from across Europe, as far as Australia, and our Walx Preston group along with friends from Nordic Walking Watford.
The event allowed us all to walk together in spirit thinking of each other around the world also taking steps to health during this time of lockdown.

Walx Preston Zoom Room
Virtual meetings are held from our Personal Meeting Room.
PLEASE NOTE that we know create events on the Exercise Anywhere site you are familiar with.
When you register for an event you will receive the confirmation email you are familiar with. This will contain the details of the Zoom link and the password.

Online Classes
We continue to add content to the library for your benefit.

Access is free of charge if you are a monthly member and you should have received log in codes via email. If you have not accessed the Digital Chalk platform yet please check your email or Junk email folder.

This is valuable content for your benefit. If there are any struggles or challenges accessing this content please do not hesitate to get in touch with Matt directly or raise your hand to your Buddy.

Please note that by viewing, and participating in this content you will build awareness about balance, mobility, strength and more that will allow you to enhance your experiences when out walking once we are out of lockdown.
The lockdown is offering a very valuable opportunity to make use of any spare or under-utilised time to build awareness, health and fitness.
